AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology takes a leading position in the Austrian innovation system and a key role in Europe as the RTO focusing on the key infrastructure topics of the future. The Center for Technology Experience deals with fundamental questions on the interaction between people and technology. We don’t just use technology, we live with it. Much more deeply than ever before, dealing with technology involves us emotionally, intellectually, and sensually. Based on interdisciplinary principles we investigate qualities, forms of interaction and new methods and tools. User experience research, experience driven innovation as well as new modalities of interaction have evolved into prominent and required building blocks towards future innovative and successful technologies, applications and services. The Center for Technology Experience supports public and private customers with the newest scientific approaches and methods to develop them.
VIDEBIS GmbH was founded in 1987 as a very small enterprise consisting of only 3 persons, with the aim to enhance the quality of life of blind people through assistive technologies. Our goal is, and always has been, to find the solutions best suited to the individual needs and requirements of our clients, be it at their workplace, throughout education or in their private lives. As of today, VIDEBIS has grown to 31 employees and has greatly widened its expertise, now also providing specialized solutions in the vast low vision field as well. More than 30% of our employees are blind and visually impaired themselves and thereby experts through their own experience in the application of assistive technologies over many years. They are the ones who support and train the clients, who ensure quality of new and serviced devices and much more.
Our way of working is to provide support and solutions for our clients all in one place. Our specialized opticians and our low vision and blind experts find out, together with the client, what’s wanted and needed and work on the best suitable solutions. We also assist our clients in finding possibilities to finance the devices. Furthermore we provide technical support and service, and we train clients, teachers, and representatives of organizations etc. in the use of assistive technologies and widen their perspectives in showing them what’s possible.
